Maybe you can help me here...I was speaking recently with a friend about the state of fashion these days how everyone is a designer. And by everyone I mean, Lilo, Olsen Sisters, Jessica Simpson, Paris and Nikki Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Coco Rocha, and any other untrained model or Hollywood celebrity I forgot to mention. Valentino has been replaced by accessories designers, Lacroix is up in the air. Whatever happened to the people who study design, believe in good design and will defend it at any cost? Cheap chic is in- look rich pay nothing, which usually ends up looking cheap eventually because everyone else has it or it is made of pleather. What's next, everyone is an artist? Probably-already.
Has pop culture truely imploded, has it become a black hole that is self-consuming? And if so, what's next?
